I suppose I owe the blogosphere an intro. Not that I expect it to be noticed or greeted with fanfare, but an intro seems like a good place to start a story, so here goes my Once Upon A Time:
Here, in the faraway kingdom of Metro Detroit, lives three chickens. Daddy Chicken, Thrifty Chicken, and Chicken Little. Daddy Chicken is a Type A neat freak, Thrifty Chicken (me.) is a free-spirited, artsy, borderline hoarder, and Chicken Little is a tiny toddler princess tornado of doom. Us two girls keep DC's blood pressure hovering right around critical 99% of the time.
The "chicken" thing isn't just a show for the blog. It's a real "inside" joke DC and I have had since we dated. There is chicken art in our house, we had chickens on our cake at the rehearsal dinner before our wedding, a chicken themed baby shower, and we truly call CL "chicken little". We do not, however, keep actual chickens. We have a fat old cat, Rosie... who enjoys eating chicken, but that's the extent of our menagerie. We did dabble in guinea pigs before CL came along, and I dream of owning an English Bulldog (and a Wallaby) someday, if you were longing for a bit more on the subject.
But the point of the intro is to begin this blog. And the point of this blog is to document my thrifty treasure finds, so enough about us (for now.) My goal in this adventure is just to give OCD me a place to visually organize the things I find into a virtual trophy room.
I don't hunt for anything specific- I'm all over the board with what speaks to me. I do have a fatal attraction to vintage AND current toys (as the kid in me refuses to grow up) and craftsy things that I almost always have grand plans for and never actually follow through on. I'll tell you, the house in my head is GLORIOUS though. (See, there's the hoarder side I was telling you about. No worries though, DC makes sure to keep me in check and CL is in no danger of toppling piles of rubbish, promise!)
